[A lot has happened in a few short days.

Arche has grown a great deal from her interactions with the assembled agents of the facility; thanks to their influence, her chamber has taken on a few new additions, including a rapidly filling curio cabinet and, more recently, an orange and black Maine Coon kitten has come to stay in the facility as well. Thanks to Ginti's advice, he is no longer confined to his transparent tank in Arche's Chamber; in fact, you may see him wandering around during the week. Please be kind to the local wildlife!

On a more serious note, Arche has located one of her missing memory cores, which comes with some...vaguely unsettling information surrounding it. But, since the general consensus seemed to be "yes, we'll help", she is now hard at work securing the gateway to the pocket dimension; if asked, she will approximate that it will take her until late Thursday night to get everything up to scratch.

In the meantime, she's helpfully provided some recommendations for people to work on this week, in preparation for this week. If you need something to think about, you might try working on one of those?

That's right. I might be a little biased, but I like sweet snacks better than savory.

Well, this is flour. I've sprinkled it on the counter to keep the dough from sticking to it after I roll it out.

What kinda stuff goes in the dough? Or how d'you make it in the first place, I guess.

In part, yes. But it's largely to keep the cookies in one piece when I transfer them from the counter to a sheet pan.

[Mami is quite happy to explain! No, really. She's super happy to talk about one of her hobbies to someone who seems interested in it.]

Sugar cookies are very simple. The most important ingredients are flour, sugar, butter, and eggs.

Oh! So it's just the cookies, then! Not any chocolate chips or nothin'? Is that why they gotta be so sweet?

[ she figures the actual cookies have probably got to be extra tasty if there's going to be no filling or anything ]

How d'you turn all that stuff into the dough, then? Does it all mix together and go all gooey?

[Oh, Labrys. Labrys, you are so precious and she must educate you on the ins and outs of baking.]

When it comes to cookies, you always start with the wet ingredients before you move onto the dry. That way, you can add the dry ingredients little by little until it's the right consistency.

... Man, this cookin' stuff is complicated...

Oh, I wouldn't say that... [Still. Mami's cheeks are rosy at the compliment. Living alone, she doesn't often get the chance to cook for others--so it means a great deal to her.]

It's just something of a hobby of mine. Baking and cooking can be a lot of work, but I think it's very relaxing.

Yeah, I bet! I mean, it's like, as long as you follow the recipe and do everythin' right, it all comes out perfect in the end!

Cakes and pies, mostly. I really enjoy makng desserts.

Pies are a type of pastry. [Okay, cookie dough! It's time to get rolled out.] Simply put, a pie is any kind of filling baked in a crust. You can bake meat pies, or fruit pies, or chocolate pies...

Yes, that's right. Pies are a very versatile dish.

I'll have to go take a look in the library. If I can find a fun recipe, I don't see why not.

Hmm... [Mami looks thoughtful, as she begins to roll out some more cookie dough.] Well, I'll cook anything if the recipe seems interesting enough. But I like making homey foods.

Homey stuff... so cakes and cookies and stuff are 'homey'?

[ man she really is asking a billion and one questions right now but she can't help it, everything about this is just so neat and she wants to know everything ]

Oh -- is curry 'homey' too? Is that why you made some for everyone?

How do I put it... [Using the rolling pen, Mami gently pushes the dough out into a flat disk.] I like to cook things that remind me of food my mother and father used to cook for me.

[Up until this point, Mami's motions have been sooth; almost elegant, if you can call rolling out cookie dough elegant. But, at Labrys' question, she almost seems to stumble.]

A few years ago, they passed away in an automobile accident.
