★ WEEK TWO: FORWARD MOVEMENT ★

[A lot has happened in a few short days.

Arche has grown a great deal from her interactions with the assembled agents of the facility; thanks to their influence, her chamber has taken on a few new additions, including a rapidly filling curio cabinet and, more recently, an orange and black Maine Coon kitten has come to stay in the facility as well. Thanks to Ginti's advice, he is no longer confined to his transparent tank in Arche's Chamber; in fact, you may see him wandering around during the week. Please be kind to the local wildlife!

On a more serious note, Arche has located one of her missing memory cores, which comes with some...vaguely unsettling information surrounding it. But, since the general consensus seemed to be "yes, we'll help", she is now hard at work securing the gateway to the pocket dimension; if asked, she will approximate that it will take her until late Thursday night to get everything up to scratch.

In the meantime, she's helpfully provided some recommendations for people to work on this week, in preparation for this week. If you need something to think about, you might try working on one of those?

Otherwise, the facility is still available to you, as is Arche. Have a good week, everyone!]

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[OOC: As with last week, if you want to talk to Arche, please use the subheadered comments! Also, we had some agents looking around for clues last week, so as a way of encouraging and streamlining that —

If you intend to look for clues, please explicitly mention what sort of thing you're looking for and approximately where you are looking, and consider asking for mod attention in the comment header so I can find it easier! Thanks, everybody!]

Well, that's because there is no payoff for drinking it. The payoff is only for intending to, but I can see what you're saying. You intend to drink the poison and put yourself through the pain to make certain you don't second-guess yourself...

In that case, I suppose drinking the poison is to your advantage, if it acts as a safety net for yourself. You know you're going to drink the poison, if only because it's the surefire way for you to get the money...I can see that, I can definitely see that!

But if we think like that, then we can assume that the only way to get the money is to intend to drink the poison, and then actually follow through with it, yes? Do you think there's any way for you to intend to drink the poison, and then not actually drink it?

What, and...intend to do something you know you're not actually going to do?

[...You can practically see the moment the "...ohhh..." kicks in, wow.]

That's...the point of it, yeah? The point isn't to solve the situation, the point is to make you try to understand something. About how you...work, or how other people work depending on how they answer. That's it?

[Akane may be somewhat timid normally, but she can talk about things like this for hours on end, and the reason why is exactly because of this moment, right here. She doesn't even attempt to hide her grin.]

I couldn't have said it better myself. The way the problem is addressed isn't exactly meant to have a resolution, though I'm sure people have come up with very interesting ones! It's meant to put forth an idea, and to see how people react when they think about those ideas, do you get what I mean? If I asked every agent here that same question I asked you, I'm certain I would get different answers from all of them, but the way they think about it, and the way they understand what Kavka and Schrodinger and everyone else was trying to get across? That little "eureka" moment you just had? That's why I enjoy them so much!

[Akane is beaming right now; she looks like she couldn't be more proud. The toxin puzzle may be a classic, but discussions like these never get old.]

Well, it's a lot to think about, that's for sure.

[Though he doesn't seem...too bothered by that at all, really. There are some things about it that are better to think about than others, and a few things that come to mind outside of the puzzle itself - Decim was always going on about respecting humans who live full lives, which is something Ginti's always found stupid as hell, but there's something at the back of his mind that's going to be making him consider that sort of thing for the next couple days, he can tell.

Ah, but that can wait.]

Speaking of that damn puzzle with the long-named guy and the cat - I got something out of the machine the other day, made me think of you.

[It doesn't take him too long to find it; it's in one of his approximately half-million pockets, but he's never had much of a problem keeping those straight.

That...sure is one s kitty hairpin, Akane.]

Take it. I don't have any damn use for it.

[...AND HE SURE IS BAD AT GIVING PEOPLE THINGS.]

It is, but I think understanding how people think is a big part of communication...it may be a bit of a peculiar way, but if you want to form interpersonal relationships with people, getting to know the way they think is always important.

[She's a bit surprised, though, when he offers her the hairpin...]

F-for me? Oh, well, thank you very much..! If you don't have much use for it...personally, I don't think it would look bad on you, but I suppose I could try it on!

[And that she does..!]

[Akane, that is a girly as hell hairpin, he is not going to be wearing it.]

Go ahead and keep it.

[...]

As for understanding people - that's...I ask them questions, sometimes, when they pass through. I don't usually get any answers that make sense, though.

[It'd look good on him!]

I can't imagine people would make too much sense, from a rational perspective, in what are basically their last moments...

They're better off than you'd think - they don't know they're dead, when they first show up. So they're usually pretty lucid, unless they weren't already for whatever reason.
