[And so the newly-minted residents of Gun Town lived happily ever after, and Arche received one of her cores back.

The good news is, the reinstallation process required about as much effort as "put the core in the dispensing box and wait"; the slightly less good news is, getting a pack of memories back all in a rush is never an easy process, and it's entirely possible that Arche might be a little disoriented when talking to people. At least she'll probably know a little more about the facility and its circumstances than she did before?

For those keeping tabs on Arche's cat, he seems to have figured out that good-smelling things come from the kitchen and there are many comfortable sleepy-places in the communal lounge, so while he can still be found anywhere in the complex at any given time, those are where you're likeliest to spot him on a regular basis.

Come Tuesday, Arche will announce her successful location of another core; she's getting better at finding them, and fixing up the gateway won't take nearly as long this go-around. Expect another Friday mission, everyone!

But in the meantime, your time is yours, and the facility and Arche are still available to you. If you've been exploring, you might want to consider meeting up with your fellow agents and sharing the wealth; you know what they say, several heads are better than one. (Unless you're a hydra. Then nobody wants that many heads. Especially not Hercules.)

[It looks like Akane missed the memo, and seeing this stranger in the library is certainly not something she was expecting to happen today...]

[...ah. He had a feeling that someone would be caught unawares, but he would have been surprised if someone didn't.]

Yeah. You called me Mr. Bird back then, though.

M-Mr. Bir--Oh goodness! Wait, but that's..! How are you both a bird and a person? Can you change between both..?

[thermals]

[He nods slightly.]

Yeah. It's...sorta like shapeshifting. ...well, a lot like shapeshifting, just a bit different.

That's amazing..! ...T-though, I guess I can't exactly call you Mr. Bird anymore, now, can I?

[thermals]

[He manages a soft laugh at that.]

Well, I won't stop you if you still want to. I didn't really give you my name, before.

My name is Tobias.

I think I would much rather call you that, if you wouldn't mind, Mr. Tobias.

[She can't help but smile, hearing him laugh like that...it's such a stark contrast from the voice she's familiar with, the one she associates with him.]

It's nice to be re-acquainted with you, then!

I don't mind at all. ...I'm sorry I didn't tell you before.

It's fine. As long as we're being honest, I'm a bit surprised that we were all so willing to give out our names myself. Frankly, I assumed we were going to operate under codenames!

[The only reason Tobias could decipher was that some people here just had nothing to lose. ...but he wasn't going to say that to her.]

I dunno. I guess it's just a little weird to call ourselves agents or go by the names when we sortof just...showed up here.

Well, the last time I was in a situation like this, we all made up our own names for ourselves. It...was a bit strange, in my opinion.

Last time? You've been through something like this before?

[moonoverjune]

Kind of sort of? It's a bit difficult to explain, but the short answer is, I have! Back then, the name I went by was "June".

[thermals]

[Tobias goes silent for a moment, watching Akane with a hard to read expression.]

Did you guys agree to change your names for your own safety?

[moonoverjune]

Well, for us, and for the people around us, too. We didn't know just how much the person who brought us where we were knew about us...so we didn't want to give out much more information about ourselves than we had to. Just in case he was listening in.

[thermals]

Makes sense. Would have probably made sense to do the same thing here, but...at this point, I don't think Arche is a threat to us at all.

[moonoverjune]

I don't think Miss Arche could hurt one of us if she tried.

[thermals]

No, I don't think so either. The real question is who thought it was a good idea to be messing with her memories in the first place.

[moonoverjune]

That's what I'm afraid of...there had to be some reason for it, right?

Yeah. It's too early to say why, but...I just don't get the feeling it was for anything good.
